Making T Nuts
Переглядів 3117 років тому
I was asked by Daniel if i could mill down some stock in the shape of custom T-nuts for his Emco Maximat V 10 P lathe. Here is how i machined it. Including starting up the Bridgeport VMC 760 with Heidenhain TNC 370 control, transfer of the part program from the PC and running the part. Make sure you check his cool channel out - ua-cam.com/channels/RX4KQ-iKiBCCiQda6LDNAQ.html

    Hello my name is Coskun iam from germany. I have bought a emco pc mill 125, but the maschine have not pc also the rs485 card is missing. The Software WINNC is complete. My question is do i need the special rs485 from emco? Or is a normal rs485 interface card enough? (maybe a usb to rs485 converter) There 3 connectors with 2x d-sub 9 male and 1x d-sub 9 female. Which connector is for what? Is there another connection possible? I hope u can help me. Thanks in advance.

      +Iccccie I am looking at a PC Turn 120 for around $3200. Is there any advice you'd like to pitch my way?

    • @Iccccie
      @Iccccie 8 років тому

      +Mike Spike Yeah they are great little machines, affordable for a hobbyist. Make sure the machine haven't lost its license for WinNC, they are about $2500 from EMCO. Support is not great from emco on these old machines however there is a bit of an community out there for these machines. There is a Yahoo group.

    • @MisterFizz

    howdy, Nice vid . . .really showed off the features of the lathe. Can I ask, what is the largest piece you can turn in the chuck and what size tools are those tool holders for the facing off part (very beginning)? 1/2 inch? thanks much John

    • @Iccccie
      @Iccccie 8 років тому

      +camcompco Hi John, Thanks! Largest piece you can turn according to the specs is 85mm x 245mm however the swing is 250mm so with some clever tool holding i'd say you can turn slightly larger pieces. All the tools used in this video have a 12mm shank held in VDI16 holders

      +Iccccie Hi Again, Well, guess what my You-Tube friend. . .I just bought a EMCO Concept 155 Mill and a EMCO Concept Turn 155 Lathe, a local technical college auctioned them off. I have yet to power them up but working on that next week. I am trying to get my head around the Fanuc 21 programming now, new to me. Could I by any chance trouble you for the code you used for the part you made. I could use it as a starting point for learning how to use the driven tools on the C-Axis. Can I ask, your not by any chance in Michigan are you? I would love to start a little machining club and I live near Ann Arbor. my email address is camcompco@gmail.com (in case your feeling kind :-) Just wondering, was that part fore some kind of steam engine or some such? All the best John

    • @camcompco
      @camcompco 8 років тому

      +Iccccie How did you power your lathe, did you hook it up to a Dongan Transformer? Thanks lccccie

    • @Iccccie
      @Iccccie 8 років тому

      +camcompco Hi, I'm extremely sorry for the very late reply! Congratulations on your purchase, i hope it will suit you well! What options did it have? I wish mine had the pneumatic option for the chuck and tailstock and a parts catcher. I'm afraid I'm nowhere near Michigan, I'm from across the atlantic ;) So the need for a transformer is not required here, i have 400 volt 3 phase jack. My machine came with Siemens Sinumerik 840D so it's a bit different from the Fanuc 21. Maybe not so much in the Y/C- axis programming but definitely with the engaging of the C-axis. I'll send you my program on your email shortly. Also i will send you a link for another video i haven't yet published where i also filmed the control of the machine so can se the program run too. Yes this is just a part for the axle pump for a steam locomotive im building. All the best Patrik

      is it suitable for heavy haulage? I am considering buying one. Gearshift is automatic or manual?

    • @Iccccie
      @Iccccie 10 років тому

      I guess it depends on what you call heavy haulage. BUT i did try to sit on my trailer and i weight in at 80kgs and drove around and it worked fine. You need a servo to control the gear shifts. I use the Servonaut K40 speed controller. Manual gearshifts but i think you are able to program the K40 for automatic gear changes.

    • @cobolean
      @cobolean 10 років тому

      80kgs? WOW! I use M20+ would it worked for autoshifts?

    • @Iccccie
      @Iccccie 10 років тому

      The M20+ does not support gear shifts. This doesn't mean you cant have a gearbox because you can, you just have to control it manually and you obviously don't get the sound effects and RPM drop on the motor so the truck will accelerate or decelerate with the gear changes.

I'm building Stuart Steam engines too and i will build a steam tug for my twin launch engine. The 3TDR saito steam engine ran very nice!
